One of my very best friends is preparing for the arrival of her second sweet son. I saw a similar quilt somewhere (can't find it now to give credit where credit is due!), and I knew it would be perfect for her. I immediately got to work, finished this quilt weeks ago, and couldn't wait to give it to her this morning at her shower. I love, love, love how this turned out! It was so much fun to make too!

I love everything about this, especially the quilting. How did you do this?
Thank you, Chris! I saw the idea on a blog somewhere and loved it too. The quilting was done with a free-motion foot on my regular old sewing machine. I love to look around for quilting pattern ideas on sites like Flickr then re-create them on my own. I think this one is called a river rock pattern. Basically you just move it around in loops of different sizes. Maybe sometime soon I'll do a video tutorial on this. It is very easy, but it takes some practice. I would start with getting a free-motion quilting foot and a bunch of scrap fabric to practice on. It really widens the quilting horizon.
