Thumbprint Tree

My husband officiated a wedding over the 4th of July weekend, and I was lucky enough to get to attend. There were so many amazing details, and this was one of my favorites. Instead of a guest book, they had a print of a tree minus the leaves. On the table was a green ink pad that each guest used to make a thumbprint leaf on the tree. Then everyone signed their name by the leaf. I found a store on etsy that sells these precious prints, and they're a great deal in my humble opinion. If you're interested, click here.

T-shirt Quilt

My niece graduates from high school this May. She spent all of her 12 years of school in the same small private school, and she's saved an assortment of t-shirts from all of her years and activities. One of the graduation events is a banquet where each graduate displays memorabilia on a table for family and friends to see. My sister asked if I'd make a quilt of her t-shirts for the table, and I was thrilled to do so. I finished this afternoon during a rare moment while my family was running around without me. I'm in love with the result, and I can't wait to get started on the next t-shirt quilt in the wings - a quilt for my cousin made of his shirts from races he has participated in.

Thankful Table Runner

The reason I started this blog was for a place to store ideas, recipes, and inspiration all in one place. It's an online resource for me that I refer to all the time myself.


So when I saw a Thanksgiving idea this afternoon, I had to sit down to store it here so I can make it sometime before this next Thanksgiving. Basically you make any table runner that suits you, but make sure the center is a blank canvas. Each year ask your children to draw a picture of what they are most thankful for, and attach it to your runner along with the year. You could embroider them, have them draw with fabric pens right on the runner (if you're brave!), scan the pictures and print them onto iron-on transfer paper, etc.


I can't wait to get started on this way to make a lasting memory each year!

I'm back!

Late summer was a doozy for us, and I appreciated the time away from this blog. I did, however, write down tons of ideas in my time off to add when I got back. In the interest of the reason I took a break in the first place (I'm pregnant!), I thought I'd start with a precious keepsake idea that I recently heard about to record your baby's first sounds.

Build-a-bear allows you to record your own sounds to a sound box they will stuff into the animal for you. Choose two of the recorders. Take one with you to one of your prenatal appointments where you will hear the heartbeat, and record the sound. Take the second to the delivery room to record your baby's first cries. Then you can put one into each hand of the bear you pick out. Precious!
